Maruti Brezza CNG Gets A Safety Boost: Details

Maruti Suzuki’s popular sub-4-meter SUV, the Brezza, which is also one of the highest-selling models in its segment, just received a safety update. The Maruti Brezza is one of the few vehicles in this category that is offered with a company-fitted CNG kit. However, the CNG version of the Brezza was missing a few safety features. Maruti has now decided to update it and offer these safety features as standard across all CNG versions.

Maruti Suzuki is currently offering the Brezza CNG in LXI, VXI, and ZXI variants. All three variants were missing a couple of safety features, which they have now included. All three variants of the Brezza CNG now come with Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and Hill Hold Assist as standard.

Maruti had introduced the CNG version of the Brezza back in March last year. When the SUV was initially launched, these features were offered with it. However, due to a semiconductor shortage, the manufacturer had to remove a couple of features from the CNG version. With the situation improving, it looks like both these features are actually extremely useful for the driver and occupants.

The ESP prevents the vehicle from losing control during sudden maneuvers, while the Hill Hold Assist ensures that the vehicle doesn’t roll back on an incline. The Maruti Brezza is not the most feature-loaded vehicle in this segment; however, it still manages to be one of the best-selling vehicles in the segment because of the brand value, wide dealership network, and reliability.

With the introduction of the CNG version, the Brezza became more appealing to a set of customers who were actually looking for a fuel-efficient SUV in the segment. The petrol Brezza was fuel-efficient; however, with rising petrol prices, many people were looking for alternative options. The Brezza with a factory-fitted CNG kit made more sense to such customers.

According to various online reports, Maruti Suzuki has sent three models to Bharat NCAP for crash tests, including the Maruti Brezza. The reports suggest that the Brezza, along with the other two models, performed well in the crash test. The results of the crash test are expected to be published on 8th May 2024. Other than the Brezza, Maruti has sent the Baleno and Grand Vitara for the crash test.

The Maruti Brezza is powered by the same 1.5-liter, naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates 102 Bhp and 137 Nm of peak torque in the petrol variant. The same engine generates 87 bhp and 121 Nm of peak torque in the CNG version. The CNG version of the Brezza is only offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox option. The petrol version gets the option of both manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The updated version of the Maruti Brezza has been launched in the market with no change in price. The price for the Maruti Brezza starts at Rs 9.29 lakh, ex-showroom. Maruti is all set to launch their all-new hatchback, the Swift, in the market.

Soon after the launch of the Swift, we expect the Indian manufacturer to come up with the updated or new-gen Dzire, which has already been spotted testing several times. Maruti is also working on an electric SUV, which we currently know as the eVx. The electric SUV is expected to hit the Indian market by the end of this year or early 2025.
