India’s love for SUVs does not seem to slow down. Tata Motors is gearing up for the launch of the new Nexon iCNG. Once launched, it will become India’s first CNG car featuring a turbocharged engine. Showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo, this model is expected to include an automatic gearbox and the dual-cylinder technology seen in the Punch, Tiago, and Tigor CNG variants.

While the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine will experience a slight dip in power and torque, the company will be adding to the popularity of this already popular sub-compact SUV. It is expected to make its debut in June. The exact date has not been reported.

This new SUV will become the more practical alternative to the Thar three-door model. It will come with a slightly different exterior and a ton of new features on the inside.

The list of its offerings includes 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, a larger infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, and an electric sunroof. Engine options will include the familiar 2.2-litre diesel and 2.0-litre turbo-petrol.

Mahindra will also be offering it with the same 1.5-litre diesel for an entry-level rear-wheel-drive (RWD) variant. Both four-wheel drive (4WD) and two-wheel drive (2WD) configurations will be available.

Based on the Nexon platform but with an extended wheelbase, the Tata Curvv EV is expected to deliver a range of 450-500 km. Its SUV-coupe design will make it a standout in the midsize electric SUV segment. Once launched, it will be competing with the likes of the Hyundai Creta EV, Maruti eVX, and Toyota’s electric SUV based on the eVX.

It will also come with a similar revamped dashboard with connected digital displays, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), dual-zone climate control, and a panoramic sunroof.

As for the engine choices, the company will not be offering any new options. It will continue to offer the same 1.5-litre turbo-petrol making 160 hp. It will also be getting the same 1.5-litre diesel engine making 115 hp. It will be offered with both manual and automatic transmission options.

Citroen Basalt
