2024 Kia Sonet Facelift test mule spotted next to Mahindra XUV300 [Video]

The South Korean carmaker Kia India seems to be in the final stages of developing the facelifted Sonet sub-compact SUV. Recently, another test mule of the Kia Sonet facelift was spotted during testing in India. This particular test mule was seen alongside a Mahindra XUV300, which also belongs to the same sub-compact SUV segment. The new test mule reveals a few more details about this upcoming SUV.

The video of the new Kia Sonet facelift has been shared on YouTube by Motorbeam on their channel. In the short video, the first shot shows the side profile of the Kia Sonet test mule. This shot reveals the new design of directional diamond-cut alloy wheels. Most likely, these alloy wheels will be the same 16-inch size. Soon after, this video shows the Sonet facelift being parked right next to a pre-facelift Mahindra XUV300.

It can also be noted that the new Sonet facelift will get a set of brand new LED taillights in the rear. These taillights look very similar to the ones seen on the Seltos facelift and other larger Kia SUVs from the international markets. Most likely, it will get a connecting LED strip in the middle, which in this particular test mule has been hidden under the thick black camouflage. A new rear bumper is also expected.

A picture of the front of this Kia Sonet facelift has also been shared. This picture does not reveal much information except for the fact that it will be getting a set of brand new, more powerful LED headlights. The DRLs will be placed on the top of the headlights, and there will be fog lamps in the same location as the outgoing model. Most likely, it will also be getting a brand new design for the front bumper as well.

2024 Kia Sonet facelift: Images already leaked

Back in October of this year, a few fully undisguised pictures of the brand new Kia Sonet facelift from China were shared online. It was stated that this particular model was from the Chinese market, and the Indian market will get a slightly different design. Now, what exactly will be different on the India-spec model has not been revealed by the brand at the moment. Most likely, the company will be launching this new facelift of the Sonet next year.

Apart from all the exterior updates, the new Sonet facelift will get some minor updates on the interior as well. The China-spec model revealed a new dual-tone interior color scheme, which included black and tan colors. The new tan color was seen on the seats of the vehicle. Apart from this, most of the interior looked identical to the outgoing model. It will come equipped with the same touchscreen infotainment system; however, the buttons for the air conditioning system were noted to be changed.

2024 Kia Sonet facelift engine options

According to numerous reports, the company will not offer the new Sonet facelift with any new engine options and will continue to offer the same ones as the outgoing model. Presently, the Kia Sonet gets three engine options. The first is a 1-liter turbo-petrol engine producing 120 PS of power and 172 Nm of torque. The second is a 1.2-liter petrol engine making 83 PS of power and 115 Nm of torque.

Lastly, there is the 1.5-liter diesel unit which produces around 115 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque. The turbo-petrol engine comes paired with either a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed DCT, while a 5-speed manual is available for the 1.2-liter petrol engine. Lastly, the diesel unit comes mated to a 6-speed iMT or a 6-speed automatic.
